An interesting note you might enjoy: Rubbed these into my hands and my mother-in-laws. She's crippled badly with arthritis. Do you know if any of your other customers use essential oils on horses? Catherine suggested that I start with oils that address my horse's arthritis, which is the reason I ordered juniper, grapefruit, ginger, rosemary, and marjoram along with a few other soothing types of oils (bergamot, frankincense) that can be used for a variety of conditions. Your right, I have neither the means or the knowledge to test the oils...so completely depend on you for that and am willing to wait for oils that meet your high standards. If it doesn't arrive before I depart on Tues. do you have any practical suggestions for diffusing oils in my hotel room? I LOVE my Kobashi Oils! I got them much more quickly than anything I've ever ordered online, and the quality is exquisite. I ordered Patchouli because when I was a child it was my mother's scent, and I immediately mixed it with the Geranium I ordered for my very own scent. Thank you so much for the free Festive Blend, I was not expecting it and almost contacted you to tell me you'd sent too much. I know it's considered by most a holiday scent, but it's just what I needed for my closet's sachets. I will definitely be ordering again soon!

We are very much satisfied with the Kobashi oils and the prices are very attractive when compared with the Young's oils. One thing, however. Are the oils Grade A and suitable for taking internally? Joan

Answer: Scott ballard

Grade A: means nothing without in depth Gc-Ms and Gc-Ms head space analysis: if you are not doing a split injection without a carrier. Anyone giving such a grade will be part of a quango: quasi-autonomous national government (or non governmental) organization, self interest group. The FDA or The Trading Standards are not testing every essential oil to find out whether the essential oil is natural and unadulterated. They could not and will not because essential oils are one of the most complex products on the earth and proper testing cost around £400 per sample: if you are doing what we are doing,. Even if you were doing just a Gc-Ms without the head space analysis a test contract for 200 samples a year will cost around £250 per sample. Yes you can get cheaper test done, but that's exactly what you get cheap. We do not do cheap and cheerful test at Kobashi. We test to isolate, as many chemical as possible. We test for phthalate, pesticide and herbicide contamination. We test for chemical composition and relative percentages. The FDA or The Trading Standards may test an oil if you had evidence that an essential oil is marked Pure or 100% essential oil and was not 100% Pure essential Oil. All our essential oils that are marked this way, are what we say they are and if anyone wants to send them to a lab to see we welcome it.Just as in athlete drug testing, there is testing and there is testing. Cheap and cheerful gc's for some.To us at Kobashi a FID GC (Flame ionized detector, Gas chromatography) is a hit or miss Russian Roulette, that is very good for relative percentages. Why is a FID GC hit or miss? Don't trust GC analysis alone. Many companies just use GC without the MS (mass spectroscopy). This is dangerous even if you have a complete library of standards, which very few people on earth have. GC’s are good for a cheap and cheerful look at the relative percentages of components in an oil, but they are only analyzed by retention time. (Retention time: the time a chemical comes out of the GC’s column) There can be four or five chemicals which have the same retention time, thus a 1-5 chance of being correct. This is not to say a well trained analyst cannot have good results, using cross cutting with two columns: a less polar and more polar column. It means that quantitative analysis is better performed in conjunction with Gc-Ms.) FID GC. Even a Gc-Ms with only the main components analyzed is not worth much more than the paper it is written on, if you want to know about contaminates.Only high resolution Gc-Ms, in depth ion pattern, peak purity analysis of every possible chemical in every essential oil.Question: Are the oils suitable for taking internally?Answer: Scott ballardIf accidentally swallowed DO NOT induce vomiting - drink at least 1 pint of water - seek medical advice. Show bottle & amount. Many Aromatherapists and Practitioners, mostly in France, prescribe Essential Oils internally. They are also used as flavorings in many foods, beverages and liqueurs, but are mixed in low dilutions by professionals.We do not recommend any essential oils to be taken internally or applied undiluted to the skin - unless you are fully aware of what you are doing

I am very impressed with my Kobashi Oils. The quality is definitely there, and the prices can't be beat. (They are a fraction of the cost of the oils in my nearby health food store.) One of the oils I ordered was Myrrh. It is wonderful for anti-inflamatory purposes, is anti-bacterial and promotes circulation.I mixed some in Jojoba carrier oil and sent it in a small dark blue dropper bottle to my dad who had open heart (bypass) surgery two weeks ago. I suggested he massage it into his scars to promote healing, as they gave him nothing at all in the hospital, nor did the visiting nurse. Since the scars are healed up I know this oil will promote total well being in those areas as the Jojoba carrier oil is also rich in vitamin E as well.I was especially impressed with the speed in which I received my order. When I need to replenish my oils it will be with Kobashi!

I use it in a special combination of carrier oils for the body after a shower with a special hint as a special scent. My favorite is three drops of Neroli with two drops of Lavendar in the bath after an especially stressful day---will put you right into a "heavenly state".I appreciate that you treat me like a valued customer. May I also take this oppurtunity to say how wonderfully pure your essential oils are. The mandarine smells exactly like the fresh fruit and the frankincense is beautifuli can't mention the rest as it would fill the page!!!I have been using the shampoo base and am very pleased with it, no need for conditioner as it does not dry out the hair atall and my hair is soft and shiny.The moisturiser is also excellant, absorbes easily and leaves the skin soft and not atall sticky.
